Autumn at home: warmth and atmosphere with oil lamps and vases
Summer has come to an end, the season changes and the days grow shorter. Outdoors, nature transforms its colours into the warm shades of autumn. Have you noticed how this season arrives dressed in the most beautiful tones of orange, brown and even hints of gold? The sun hangs lower in the sky and casts a deep warmth that, behind the window, feels like a soft embrace. Walks are once again taken with coats on, enjoying the crisp air that tickles our noses.
And indoors? Indoors we bring light into our homes.
The power of light
Every well-written book or song refers to light. Light at the end of a long road, light in the darkness, light that guides you to a place of rest and comfort. For many, light holds a special meaning: a place of remembrance, a symbol of warmth, or an enrichment of life. Take the oil lamp, for example. It provides a calm glow and has a long lifespan. The way the light shines through creates a beautiful play of shadows. My favourite oil lamp is the Disc Elegant Champagne Brass; its warm champagne tone transforms the light into something that makes me feel at home.
Autumn and the festive season
Where some seasons invite exuberance, autumn is all about balance. Subtle nuances—think of warm-tinted glass, deep earth tones and dark vases—bring the atmosphere of the season without overwhelming the space. Even around Halloween this can be applied in a stylish and understated way, with accents that suit both modern and classic interiors.
Vases as seasonal anchors
Vases form the foundation of autumn styling. A large ceramic piece with relief, a glossy glass variant in warm tones, or a series of smaller models in a ton-sur-ton palette: each offers endless possibilities to translate the spirit of the season onto the shop floor. Filled with branches, leaves or silk flowers, they create an immediate and tangible connection with autumn.
Inspiration for the shop floor
The living month provides the perfect opportunity to present collections anew. By showcasing oil lamps, windlights and vases together, you create an inspiring setting from which customers can take direct ideas. A carefully composed autumn corner can form the bridge toward winter and the festive season, keeping attention alive well into the season.
