May is the month when evenings grow longer. The sun sinking slowly, yet refusing to disappear. Those evenings call for a different kind of light. Not the sharp brightness of an overhead lamp, but something that holds the warmth of the evening.
When I think of May, I always think of someone who loved long evenings too. Of sunlight catching someone's hair and leaving behind a beautiful warm glow. And of that particular shade of blue that only reveals itself if you stay long enough to look. On evenings like that, you notice the small things again. A ladybird pausing for a moment on the rim of a pot. The colour it leaves in your mind: warm, earthy, exactly the shade of Cappuccino.
From table to terrace
The Bottle Lamp is perhaps our most versatile lamp. Compact, recognisable, and at the same time suited to almost any occasion. On a dressed table at a May wedding. On a terrace with a glass of wine and the sound of the evening around you. On the bar of a restaurant where the lights went down just a little too early. The Salon Lamp asks for a little more space, but gives it back generously. Stately, calm, made for moments that are allowed to last.
Both burn smokefree and odourless on Peri Living Paraffine Oil. The fiberglass wick lasts a lifetime. You refill, you light, and the lamp does the rest.
What you don't see
Behind every lamp is a process that begins with glass. Handcrafted, own design, from Oosterhout. No two lamps are exactly alike, though they are always recognisable as Peri Living. That is the nature of handwork: precision and character at once.
Transparency, to me, is not just a material quality. It is also a way of working. What you see in our lamps is exactly what you get.
Texture as counterweight
Alongside the glass sits the Living Cappuccino vase. Three sizes, S, M and L, with a relief structure reminiscent of honeycomb. The same warmth as that evening colour, now tangible in ceramic. Ceramic next to glass: two materials that are each other's opposites, yet radiate the same calm. Presented as a set, with or without flowers, this combination sells itself.
Finally
Mark your calendar: on 14 and 15 June you can find us at the Grote Kerk in Naarden for the MAD events. A place worth making the trip for. More details to follow.
Warm regards, Sanne
